ABOUT THE FRIENDS OF FORT FLAGLER

Friends of Fort Flagler (FoFF) is an all-volunteer organization and relies on contributions of time and donations from its membership. FoFF has a remarkable history of contributing volunteer labor and skill to projects and programs, both big and small.

There are many ways to contribute to this special park, and we'd like to hear from you.

How We Have Contributed to the Park

Examples from our past work are:

  • 2023 completed construction of 22 replacement and new park benches, a two year effort.
  • Provide more than 30 programs per year to enhance visitor understanding of the rich natural history of the park.
  • In 2021 New Mystery Bay Picnic Shelter, replaced former rotted version that was torn down in 2012.
  • In 2020, addition of a first-class basketball court to enhance the experience of youth visitors.
  • In 2019, a complete refresh of the park’s interpretive nature trail with bridges built and new signage throughout.
  • Annual spring campground cleanup and ongoing trail maintenance.
  • Support for S’Klallam tribal canoe journey, part of an effort to increase understanding of Indigenous Peoples’ history in the area.
  • Friends of Fort Flagler Docent Program, our ongoing efforts to protect the delicate habitat and diverse wildlife on Rat Island
  • Establish Trails and Bunker Ambassadors
  • Legislative advocacy for Fort Flagler and for WA State Parks in general.
